Independent Single Object Still Life Painting
Students are encouraged to bring in their own object to paint and study. It will be photographed in good lighting for a better effect. If students choose not to bring an object in, they may choose a painting from The Internet. It is acceptable for this assignment to replicate another artists work, because the learning goal is to learn painting skill and mixing paint skills, and there is less of an emphasis on individual creativity in this particular assignment.

Portrait Painting
Students will use acrylic paint and a grid technique to accurately draw and paint a recognizable human portrait
Students will learn to mix paint to various skin tones Students will concentrate on facial proportions and features, not necessarily the finer points of portraiture. The goal is to get a fundamental grasp of how the human face is constructed. |
